Connect Facebook Messenger to your AI assistant

Overview

Connect a Facebook Page to handle Messenger conversations with your AI assistant. Happ integrates with Facebook Messenger through the Meta OAuth 2.0 flow. Customers who message your Facebook Page will receive AI-powered responses.

Prerequisites

  • A Facebook Page for your business
  • Admin access to the Facebook Page
  • Facebook Business Manager account (recommended)

Setup

Step 1: Connect Facebook

  1. Go to Integrations > Add Integration > Facebook Messenger
  2. You'll be redirected to Meta to authorize via OAuth 2.0
  3. Grant messaging permissions
  4. Select the Facebook Page to connect

Step 2: Assign Assistant

  1. Choose which AI assistant handles Messenger conversations
  2. Activate the integration

Step 3: Test

  1. Go to your Facebook Page
  2. Send a message via Messenger from a different account
  3. Your AI assistant should respond automatically

Token Management

Similar to Instagram, Facebook uses Meta access tokens that are refreshed automatically by Happ. If the integration stops working, reconnect through the Integrations page.

Tips

  • Greeting Text — Set a greeting in Facebook Page settings so visitors know what to expect
  • Page settings — Ensure your Page's messaging settings allow all users to contact you
  • Response expectations — Configure your assistant's prompt to set proper expectations
