Connect WhatsApp to your AI assistant via WaSender
Overview
Connect your WhatsApp account to handle customer messages with your AI assistant. Happ integrates with WhatsApp through the WaSender platform.

Prerequisites
- A WaSender account (wasender.io)
- A WhatsApp phone number
Setup
Step 1: Set Up WaSender
- Create an account at WaSender
- Connect your WhatsApp number to WaSender
- Note your WaSender API credentials
Step 2: Connect to Happ
- Go to Integrations > Add Integration > WhatsApp (WaSender)
- Enter your WaSender credentials
- Assign an AI assistant
- Activate the integration
Step 3: Test
- Send a WhatsApp message to your connected number from another phone
- Your AI assistant should respond automatically
Features
- Text messages — Full text conversation support
- Images — Receive and process image messages (appears as
[User sent a photo]in AI context) - Voice messages — Receive voice messages from customers
- Conversation history — All WhatsApp conversations visible in the Chat Dashboard
AI Control
Toggle AI on/off for any WhatsApp conversation. See AI Control & Human Handoff for details.
When AI is off, respond manually from the Chat Dashboard or the mobile app.
Limitations
- WhatsApp does not support group chats through the integration
- WhatsApp has rate limits on messaging — plan accordingly for high-volume use cases
Tips
- Ensure your WhatsApp number is dedicated to the bot — the AI assistant will respond to all incoming messages
- Monitor the WaSender dashboard for connection status
- Set a clear WhatsApp Business profile so customers know what to expect
